Finally, software integration and ecosystem fragmentation pose challenges. AR devices often run custom operating systems or modified versions of Android/iOS, forcing developers to adapt apps across platforms. For example, an app built for ARCore (Google) might need significant adjustments to work on ARKit (Apple) or vice versa. Spatial mapping and persistence—such as anchoring virtual objects in real-world locations—require robust SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) algorithms that perform reliably in diverse lighting or dynamic environments. Privacy concerns also arise, as AR devices continuously capture environmental data, necessitating secure data handling practices. Developers must balance these technical demands with user expectations for seamless, context-aware experiences, making wearable AR a complex but rewarding domain.
